Compassion lies at the heart of Buddha's teachings, but what does living a life of compassion mean? How can we relate to ourselves with gentleness and patience -- how can we be our own therapist, coach, and best friend? The pain and suffering that we experience can be a source of strength and a catalyst for spiritual growth. Instead of shutting out those who harm us, we train to welcome them as our teachers. In order for our compassion to be long-lived, we need to acknowledge our limitations and set realistic boundaries in our relationship with ourselves as well as with others. Mindfulness meditation and self-reflection are important life skills for developing a resilient, compassion-based motivation. These are some of the subjects that we will explore together in this series of classes based on Thubten Jinpa's book, A Fearless Heart: how the courage to be compassionate can transform our lives. Each session consists of meditation, a presentation led by Ven. Losang Tendrol, and break-out group discussions.
