Zoom Series: Buddhist Approaches to Fear and Anxiety
The Less Anxious Buddhist
Buddhism is a path for real people, and real people can be anxious. Especially these days. How does Buddhism consider anxiety, and what have Buddha and Buddhist teachers said about it? Does Dr. Buddha have any treatments for it? We’ll take a look at anxiety, its causes, and potential treatments from a Buddhist perspective, including approaches from the Sutras, the Abhidharma, and Tantra. Professor Kittay wants you to know that he’s not a therapist and not an expert on anxiety, but will speak mainly from his own experience of anxiety. He is really nervous about this talk, but thinks it will be ok.

About our teacher:
Dr. David "Komodo" Kittay specializes in translating Buddhist texts and teaching courses at Columbia University on Buddhism and on Eastern and Western philosophy, most recently, “Technology, Religion, Future,” "Reincarnation and Technology," and “Interpreting Buddhist Yoga.” He is the President of the Tibetan Classics Translators Guild of New York, writes and lectures on the subject of compassionate lawyering, and is founder and director of the Clemente Course for the Humanities, teaching humanities to underprivileged people in Harlem.
