Special Prayer/Gathering for John Simpson

From May 22, 11:00 am until 1:00 pm
At DNKL

Dear Friends of DNKL,

It is with great sadness that we share that John Simpson passed away Saturday, April 24th. He had spent that day at DNKL helping us with our spring clean-up and it was wonderful seeing him and so many of our friends - it was the first time we were all together since COVID started.

John’s dedication to DNKL, his development/practice, and all sentient beings was truly an example of remarkable steadfastness to Buddha Dharma. John generously shared his wisdom, virtue, generosity and resources, and he created great amounts of merit and virtue.

Even if you don’t know John personally, it will be very beneficial to him, especially over the next 49 days after his passing, to keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Consciously dedicating some of your joyful daily activities both in meditation and off the cushion to the well being of John, is a powerful way you can directly benefit him. And for those of you who might want a very short prayer you can say for John, see the following:

Through the Buddha's blessing, grace, and guidance, through the power of the light that streams from Him:
May all John's negative karma, destructive emotions, obscurations, and blockages be purified and removed,
May he know himself forgiven for all the harm he may have thought and done,
May John accomplish this profound practice of phowa, and die a good and peaceful death,
And through the triumph of his death, may John be able to benefit all other beings, living or dead.

[Note:  You can substitute whoever’s name you’d like when you might find the need to recite a quick prayer for a dying or recently passed person.]

We will hold this event outside and zoom will not be available. Masks will be required when social distancing is not possible.
