Compassion in Daily Life

Overview:

Compassion is a practice that is accessible to all but is frequently misunderstood and underutilized. This class will explore the true nature of compassion in its many iterations.  The concept of compassion as a strength rather than a weakness will be discussed, as will methods to foster it without sacrificing one’s happiness.  The cultivation of compassion also requires the practice of ethics, and this course will examine different aspects of ethics, including the definition of moral ethics, and the fundamentals of the ethics of restraint.  The course will also delve into the concepts of oneness and adversity, seeking to help bring participants to a greater understanding of how these ideas can further advance the ability to be compassionate.

Overall, the class objective is to provide participants with multiple opportunities to truly embrace the deep human experience and expression of compassion, and also to illustrate how the practice can have a profound impact on their lives and the lives of others.
