Great Medicine Buddha Ceremony
Since its inauguration in the 17th century by Demo Delek Gyatso, regent to the His Holiness the 7th Dalai Lama, the Great Medicine Buddha Ceremony has been a unique tradition of Sera Mey Monastery for over 250 years.
In brief, the benefits of the Great Medicine Buddha Ceremony include the promotion of the Buddha’s teaching and the general welfare of society, as well as the promotion the health of those who are living and the opportunity to dedicate virtue for the benefit of those who are deceased.
This year we are holding this grand event as a special commemorative occasion for the 600th Parinirvana of Tsongkhapa The Great, as well as using this opportunity to make dedications in particular for clearing hindrances to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s long life in his obstacle year. All are welcome and encouraged to participate in this highly auspicious occasion led by Venerable Siling Tongkhor Rinpoche.
Consultations on Tibetan Medicine will also be available.
In addition to this ceremony, the Sera Mey monks will be building a Medicine Buddha mandala at DNKL from November 12-15, 2019. We encourage you, your families and friends to come view the building of this mandala and meet with our sanghas from India. More details on timing of each day will be provided shortly.
