Buddhism in a Nutshell (4)

January 29, 2023 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Overview:The Buddha’s teachings are extensive and profound and it can be difficult to know where to get started. In this short, four-class series, Ven. Losang Tendrol, an American nun ordained in the Tibetan tradition, gives a high level overview of the teachings. The Buddha’s unique perspective on the human condition — from our entry into the world at birth through separation at the time of death — is as relevant today as it was when  Buddha first taught over 2,500 years ago. By opening our hearts to others through wisdom and compassion and by living mindfully, we can remain free and undisturbed regardless of what’s going on around us.
Session 1. What did the Buddha teach and how do we deepen our understanding through meditation?
Session 2. What does it mean to be Buddhist? What is the Buddhist approach to finding freedom from suffering?
Session 3. How can we lead a meaningful life in the face of constant change and uncertainty?
Session 4. How can we find true joy by living for others instead of only ourselves?
Each class will include a presentation, guided meditation and discussion.  Participation in all four classes is strongly recommended but not required
Please register for this class so we can contact you with any special readings or handouts for the class.
