OVERVIEW:

Chokhor Duchen (The first turning of the Wheel of Dharma) ii one of the four major holy days of Shakyamuni Buddha.   This day commemorates the day that the Buddha Shakyamuni first taught the four noble truths in Sarnath, India, and first turned the wheel of the dharma after attaining enlightenment.

At his first teaching, the Buddha expressed his profound realization of the nature of existence in the Four Noble Truths:

The Truth of Suffering
The Truth of the Origin of Suffering
The Truth of the Cessation of Suffering
The Truth of the Path to the Cessation of Suffering

According to the Vinaya text Treasure of Quotations and Logic, any virtuous action performed on this day is multiplied by 100 million times — making it a powerful occasion to gather and practice.
