Enjoying Your Daily Practice (Zoom Only)

February 9, 2025 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

OVERVIEW:

Creating a daily practice is the best way to integrate the Buddha’s teachings into our lives. By designing our practice around a few key elements, we deepen our understanding of the teachings and fulfill our vows and commitments with joy and meaning. Just reading books about Buddhism and attending classes is not enough, we need to actually apply the teachings to transform how we think and how we act.

Ven. Losang Tendrol offers advice on how to create a daily practice that is meaningful and enjoyable but also sustainable. This class is intended both for students who have taken refuge vows as well as those who are interested but have not yet done so. Students should already have a basic background in Buddhist thought because the class answers the question “How” and “What to do” instead of “Why”. It would also be helpful for students to know how to meditate.

Topics include:

  • Taking refuge in the Triple Jewel
  • How to set your motivation in the morning
  • How to keep Refuge in the Three Jewels first and foremost in mind during the day,
  • The importance of confession practices
  • How to practice mind training
  • What to do before going to sleep
  • Suggested daily prayers

Other topics that will be covered if time permits:

  • How to create an altar
  • The significance and importance of rituals and pujas

Format: presentation, prayers, meditation, Q&A
