Principles of Buddhist Psychology w//Geshema Chopa Lhadron

OVERVIEW:
Who Am I?
In order to overcome problems in our daily lives we need to recognize that our minds paint a situation in either cheerful pastels or dreary greys. Our minds are responsible for our happiness or suffering. Without understanding the nature of our minds, we cannot reimagine our inner landscape, and our Buddha nature remains veiled. As a result, we remain trapped in the pain that is our samsaric existence. Clearly, it is not enough to simply wish or hope for inner peace. Following the Buddha’s path begins by carefully analyzing how our minds create our reality. Once we recognize this continuous process, we can begin to take charge and gradually, over time, we will embody peace.
This 8-week course introduces the basic principles of Buddhist psychology-–the nature of mind and its potential for infinite happiness. The main topics include:
- The importance of understanding our minds
- Different ways of explaining the mind
- Mind and mental factors
- The relationship between body and mind
- Living a meaningful life
The course is suitable for new students as well as those who have studied previously.
