Vajrayoginī Blessing
OVERVIEW:
The practice of the female buddha Vajrayoginī (Dorje Naeljorma in Tibetan) is first mentioned in the Root Tantra of Cakrasaṃvara. Of the several lineages of this deity, the form of Vajrayoginī most popular in the Sakya and Gelug traditions stems from the teachings of the great Mahāsiddha Nāropā and is therefore often referred to as “Nāropā’s ḍākinī.”
The practice of the generation and completion stages of Vajrayoginī is profound and simpler than that of most other Highest Yoga Tantra deities. The practice texts are relatively brief and the visualizations accessible, with the essential points codified in a system of teachings known as the eleven yogas. The practice of Vajrayogini employs the methods of tantra to transform afflictions into the path.
IMPORTANT PREQUISITES:
Participation in the Blessing of Vajrayoginī requires having previously received empowerment into a deity practice of Highest Yoga Tantra such as, Cakrasaṃvara, Yamāntaka, Kālacakra, or Guhyasamāja.
PRACTITIONER COMMITTMENTS:
You will be required to recite the Six Session Guru Yoga Sadhana and Vajrayoginī Mantra daily.
BIBLIOGRAPHY:
Sharpa Choje Rinpoche Ngawang Jorden was born in 1956 in Tsang region (Tibet). At the age of 3, Rinpoche was migrated to India with His parents. In 1972, Rinpoche became a monk at Sera Mey Monastery and started studying Tibetan Buddhism. In 1974, Rinpoche officially started training on Buddhist logic and five classic topics of Gelug tradition (Abhidharma, Prajnaparamita, Madhyamika, Pramana and Vinaya).
In 1978, Rinpoche took Getsul vows from Dakyab Rinpoche and Gelong (fully ordained) vows from H.H the 14 Dalai Lama at Guymed Monastery. In 1991, Rinpoche was honored with Geshe Lharampa degree after seven years of rigorous exams. In the same year, Rinpoche went to study Vajrayana at Gyuto Tantric Monastery in Tenzing Gang (Northeast of India). Rinpoche completed a series of Vajrayana retreats such as Guyasamaja, Thirteen Deities of Yamāntaka, Solitary Yamāntaka, Vajrayogini and so on.
In 1999, when Rinpoche was doing Chakrasamvara retreat at His own home at Sera Mey Monastery, Rinpoche received a letter from H.H the Dalai Lama honoring Rinpoche as a Lama Uze (candidate to next abbot of the monastery) of Gyuto Monastery. After a three-year term, Rinpoche was appointed as the abbot of Gyuto Monastery. Rinpoche was appointed as Abbot of Segyu monastery in 2009 and then, Abbot of Sera Mey Monastery in 2011 by H. H the Dalai Lama. Rinpoche has given spiritual guidance and Dharma teachings around the world
Recently, on 1/1/2025 Rinpoche was appointed as Sharpa Choje by H. H the Dalail Lama and Rinpoche is the holder of Sharpa Choeje position in Gelugpa lineage.
