At DNKL
Buddhist refuge vows are required to qualify for this empowerment (see description)

Overview:

Gyumed Khensur Rinpoche Lobsang Jampa will confer the empowerment of Avalokiteshvara (1,000 Armed Chenrezig) at DNKL on March 11, 2017. This will be Rinpoche’s only appearance at DNKL in March.

The Avalokiteshvara initiation is required for those who wish to fully engage in the Nyungne practice (described below). You must be a serious practitioner who has already taken Buddhist refuge vows to qualify for this empowerment. Those who have taken the empowerment previously are encouraged to do so again to repair broken samaya vows.

If you are interested in attending, please register so we can plan accordingly.

Nyungne Purification Practice Retreat

The Nyungne practice is considered the most powerful form of purification. This year our practice begins on Friday, June 9, the holy day of Saka Dawa. This is the day our Lord Buddha was born, reached enlightenment and passed into parinirvana. The merit generated from engaging in virtuous activities on this day are vastly multiplied.

A single Nyungne retreat purifies the negativity of forty thousand eons. During this practice we engage in physical fasting, maintain silence, and practice one-pointed concentration, purifying the negative karmic actions of body, speech and mind and their resulting obscurations.
